Important Dates Reminder (CPE)
2026 Licence Renewals Open May 10
This year’s licence renewal period will open on Sunday, May 10, 2026.
All real estate licences in Nova Scotia expire annually on June 30, regardless of when they were issued. The deadline to complete your renewal is June 30, 2026 at 11:59pm. Licences not renewed by this time will be automatically terminated effective July 1, 2026 at 12:00am.
The online Licensee Portal will send all licensees their invoice via email when renewals open on Sunday and will continue to send weekly reminders until renewal is complete. If you do not receive a renewal email, please check your spam/junk folders before contacting the Commission’s This email address is being protected from spambots. The Commission has updated the licensing section of the website, including the page for renewals: Everything You Need to Know About Licence Renewals.
This updated page includes detailed renewal instructions, payment methods, declaration requirements, fees, and answers to common questions and issues. During the renewal period, the Commission receives a high volume of inquiries. If you have questions or issues regarding renewals, please review this page first, as your question is likely answered here. If you still need help, contact your broker before reaching out to the Commission.
Participating in the Survey Questions
Every year the Commission adds additional questions to the mandatory declaration questions to survey licensees on relevant topics or issues. This year’s questions are about the Commission website, CPE topics, and advertising. Licensees are encouraged to take the time to participate in these survey questions and provide feedback.
What Are You Responsible For
All licensees are responsible for renewing their real estate licence, and if applicable, their approved sales corporation licence.
Brokers have additional renewal obligations, including renewing the brokerage licence and their broker licence, renewing any branch office licences, renewing their Approved Sales Corporation renewal (if applicable), and paying audit fees.
Brokers can use the Brokerage Reports in the online Licensee Portal to monitor the renewal status of all licensees within their brokerage.
If You Are Not Renewing (Retiring, Leaving the Industry, etc.)
If you do not intend to renew your licence (due to retirement, leaving the industry, etc.), you must terminate your licence in advance of the renewal deadline. You can do this by logging into the online Licensee Portal and terminating your licence on or before June 30, or by submitting a completed Notice of Termination form to the Commission’s This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. indicating your last day.
Once your licence is terminated, you must immediately cease all trading activities, including taking down signage, advertising, and social media.
If You Miss the Deadline
If your licence is not renewed and you haven’t initiated a termination yourself by the June 30 deadline your licence will be automatically terminated at 12:00am on July 1. You must immediately stop all trading activity, including taking down signage, advertising, and social media.
After the deadline, the Commission shares a list of any and all licensees who failed to renew their licence or terminate themselves before the deadline. This list of names is published on the Commission's website and distributed via news bulletin, identifying the licensees as terminated for failure to renew or terminate before the deadline.
To avoid being included in the non-renewal notice, you must either renew your licence or submit a termination on or before June 30. To resume trading, you must apply for reinstatement, pay applicable fees, and wait for your licence to be reissued before resuming activity.
Important Dates Reminder
June 15, 2026: Mandatory CPE Deadline
All licensees (salespeople, associate brokers, managing associate brokers, and brokers) are required to complete Professionalism Sells. All broker-level licensees (associate brokers, managing associate brokers, and brokers) are also required to complete the broker CPE: Keeping It on the Rails.
All licensees must complete their mandatory CPE course(s) by 11:59 p.m. on June 15, 2026. Failure to do so will result in ineligibility to renew your licence(s). Renewal eligibility will be reinstated once all required CPE courses have been successfully completed. Licensees can verify their CPE completion status at any time through the licensee portal.
