Commission Office Closures

The office will be closed on Friday, December 20, 2024 for office maintenance. Staff will be working remotely.

The office will be fully closed for the holidays from Monday, December 23, 2024 until Thursday, January 2, 2025. If you have time-sensitive inquiries during the holiday closure, email the Registrar. Non time-sensitive inquiries can be directed to the appropriate staff member, who will respond when they resume work in the new year.

COVID-19 Update: May 7, 2021

Premier Iain Rankin and Dr. Robert Strang, Nova Scotia’s chief medical officer of health, announced further restrictions to prevent the spread of COVID-19 today, May 7.

New border measures will take effect at 8 a.m. on Monday, May 10, and will be in place until at least the end of the month:

  • Nova Scotia’s border will close to people intending to move here.
  • The border will close to people coming from Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland and Labrador; it was closed previously to non-essential travel from other provinces.

The Commission is continuing to monitor the COVID-19 orders, directives and guidelines from the government. We will continue to communicate with the industry as information is made available. For additional resources and information on COVID-19:

Mandatory CPE Course Deadline Reminder

Licensees are required to complete the online course, All About Offers: Relationships, Contracts, Communication & Disclosure, by June 15, 2021.

This course is available now until June 15th via the NSAR Training Hub. Non-NSAR members can contact the NSAR Education Department. Questions can be directed to Claire Beck at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Any licensee that does not complete their course by June 15th will not be able to renew their licence. Their licence will terminate effective July 1st and they must immediately cease all trading activities.

Licensees whose licences terminated for failing to complete the course are not eligible for renewal until the course is complete.

Online Licensing Renewals Open Monday, May 10th

Online licensing renewals open Monday, May 10th.

Brokers will be responsible for renewing the brokerage licence, audit fees, any branch office licences, their broker licence, and, if applicable, their approved sales corporation licence. All other licensees will be responsible for renewing their real estate licence and, if applicable, their approved sales corporation licence. 

Using the online portal, brokers are able to look up their own licensees to confirm they have renewed their licence.

The Licence Renewal Resource page is available with video tutorials, a user manual, and important information about payment methods and deadlines.

Important Renewal Dates

May 10—Licensees will receive a licence renewal invoice on May 10th by email. If you do not receive an invoice or you need help completing your renewal, email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

June 30—Licensees who have not renewed their licence by June 30th will have their licences terminated effective July 1st and must immediately cease all trading activities.

Renewal Payment Options

You will be prompted for payment when renewing your licence online. You have the following payment options:

  • Pay by credit card—use a credit card to pay online.
  • Pay by cheque—mail a cheque to the Commission office.

Renewals paid by cheque will be considered pending until the cheque is received by the Commission office. All cheques must be received by the Commission by noon on June 30th to complete the renewal.
