COVID-19 Update (March 17, 2020)

The Board of Directors has approved the following and will reassess the COVID-19 situation on April 1, 2020 to decide if further action is required.

Click the button below for more information about operations during this time.

Operations

  • The Commission’s office is closed until April 1, 2020.
  • Staff are working remotely.
  • Any updates will be communicated to the industry by news bulletin, Facebook, and on the Commission’s website homepage.

Licensee Due Diligence

  • Licensees are to educate themselves and their consumers about the current COVID-19 situation and its implications so they can make informed decisions.
  • Licensees are to follow the directives of the provincial and federal government.

Governance

  • The annual report is delayed and government has been notified.
All meetings, including the Board meeting and the Annual General Meeting are delayed until further notice.
  • To address this delay, the Board of Directors agreed to modify the current Bylaw 242 to include (see in bold):
“An annual meeting of industry members shall be held, within four (4) months of the end of the fiscal year, at a time and place to be fixed by the Commission. In urgent circumstances, as determined by the Board, the annual meeting and elections may be held outside of the time frame set in accordance with Bylaw 242.
  • The nomination closing date for the 2020 election will not change (March 26). In lieu of handwritten signatures, electronic signatures or collecting emails of 10 supporters will suffice. The election is delayed until further notice.
