BROKER BULLETIN: Audit and Record Keeping Policy Updates and Broker Training
BROKER BULLETIN: Audit and Record Keeping Policy Updates and Broker Training
On October 17, the Commission notified the industry that effective January 2025, the existing policy, the Audit Program: A Guide to Real Estate Audits in Nova Scotia, is being replaced with two separate policies: the Audit Policy and the Brokerage Transaction and Trust Account Policy.
A primary change to the audit process is the introduction of SharePoint, a secure electronic platform for sharing and storing documents as the new method for brokers with trust and trading activity (Form 1) to provide documents to the Compliance Officer.
Broker Training Available November 4
Training will be available to brokers starting November 4 to help brokers understand how documentation is to be compiled and submitted using the SharePoint platform. The training will take roughly 25 minutes. All brokers will receive an email from the education platform, TalentLMS, with their login information. Brokers or their admin/managing associate broker are to complete this training before their first audit of 2025. The training will remain accessible online after completion and the Commission recommends that brokers download and save the resource documents for future reference.
The training is not a CPE course, and does not count towards mandatory education.
Managing Associate Brokers and Admin Staff
Managing associate brokers or administrative staff interested in taking the training are welcome to do so. They can access the material directly using their broker's login credentials or the broker can share the course materials with them.
