COVID-19 Update: September 15, 2021

The Nova Scotia government has announced the the province will be delaying starting phase 5 until October 4th, 2021.

The Commission strongly reminds licensees that the restrictions for phase 4, including masking, gathering limits, and requirements for travel into Nova Scotia remain in effect. The current travel requirements states that individuals entering Nova Scotia (with exceptions for those travelling from Prince Edward Island or Newfoundland and Labrador) may have to isolate based on vaccination status and testing:

  • People who are fully vaccinated at least 14 days before arriving in Nova Scotia don’t need to self-isolate; testing is recommended.
  • People who are not fully vaccinated (partially vaccinated, unvaccinated or who have received their second dose within the last 14 days) must self-isolate for 7 days and receive 2 negative tests results in order to leave self-isolation after 7 days.

Regardless of phase, licensees should have conversations with their clients about COVID-19 safety measures that may be in their best interest. Clients may request that everyone who enters their home wear masks, gloves, sanitize, etc. Licensees must follow the lawful instruction of their clients.

Commission Office

The Commission office is continuing to follow COVID-19 safety measures including masking and social distancing. Public and licensee access to the Commission office is by appointment only. Anyone who comes into the office is required to wear a mask and complete the COVID-19 screening declaration in advance.

Licensing Exams

Masks are still required by all staff and students writing licensing exams. This requirement will continue in phase 5. Students who refuse to wear a mask in the exam room will not be permitted to write.

Other COVID-19 safety measures including sanitization, social distancing and cleaning before and after exams will also continue. Students who are unable to wear a mask for the duration of the exam due to medical reasons must contact the Registrar for alternate arrangements.

Students must complete the COVID-19 screening declaration the day before the scheduled licensing exam by 4pm. The link to complete the screening will be provided in the exam confirmation email. Anyone who does not complete the COVID-19 screening the day before their exam will NOT be permitted to write the exam.
