Licensing From Another Province Or Country

Licensees in Nova Scotia who would like information about becoming licensed in another province or in the United States should contact the regulatory body for real estate in that province or state for information on licensing requirements and processes.

If you are already licensed to trade in real estate in another Canadian province, or internationally, and want to apply for a licence to trade in real estate in Nova Scotia, follow the steps outlined below.

CANADIAN APPLICANTS

Licensees from other Canadian provinces applying for a licence to trade in real estate in Nova Scotia must provide to the Commission:

  • An original licensing and discipline history acceptable to the Commission from the real estate regulatory body of the province they are currently licenced in
  • a current (no older than six months) criminal record check from the RCMP, Commissionaires or another provider acceptable to the Commission. The Commission does not accept electronic criminal background check services such as Mybackcheck.com
  • a completed licence application
  • a signed Out of Province Certification form
  • payment in cash, cheque, money order, debit, Visa, MasterCard or AMEX

Please note: if you send the licensing history yourself, it must arrive in the original sealed envelope from the originating regulatory agency. Every application and the contents therein are treated as strictly confidential.

INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS

Licensees from international jurisdictions with an occupational standard applying for a licence to trade in real estate in Nova Scotia must achieve a mark of 70 per cent or higher on the challenge exam and provide to the Commission:

  • a licensing and discipline history acceptable to the Commission from the real estate regulatory body of the jurisdiction they are currently licenced in
  • a current (no older than six months) criminal record check from a provider acceptable to the Commission
  • proof that they are eligible to work in Canada
  • a completed licence application
  • payment in cash, cheque, money order, debit, Visa, MasterCard or AMEX
